Sharon's Solution: A Whitening Product for All Fabrics
Sharon's Solution is a laundry product developed by a lady whose business was sewing and caring for delicate fabrics and antique lace. It works on everything from antique lace to everyday whites.
When describing my situation to a friend at work, she told me about a mutual friend who had taken her own grandmother's christening gown, soaked it in a solution she got off the internet, and had such amazing results that she gave it to her own infant granddaughter to be used for her christening and photo session. I ordered one 10-ounce bottle, which was $13.99 (plus $6 shipping), and it arrived in good time. I followed the directions exactly and soaked that tiny dress in the solution (6 tablespoons) in a bucket for a total of 2 days due to the stubbornness of the 85-year old stains, then carefully stretched it out on a drying rack to dry in the sun. The results were astounding. The solution was strong enough to take away the yellowing of the fabric and the brown stains from the poor framing job, but gentle enough to not harm the delicate fibers. In fact, I will be using the dress on my daughter who is due in 8 weeks.
Because I had some solution left over in the bottle, I began using it for other white items in my house (tablecloths, shirts, etc.), and it never failed to take out a stain. In some cases, it took only minutes to take out what Clorox had left behind.
