Things You'll Need:
T-shirt
Sewing pencil, chalk or disappearing marker
Yardstick or 18-inch ruler
Scissors
Straight pins
Sewing machine
Thread
Fiberfill
Optional: Hand sewing needle
Instructions:
Step 1 - Place the t-shirt on a flat work surface. Smooth the wrinkles with your hands.
Step 2 - Draw the shape of the pillow on the t-shirt with a sewing pencil, sewing chalk or disappearing marker.
Step 3 - Cut through both layers of fabric along the drawn line.
Step 4 - Place the front layer on a flat work surface so the front of the fabric is facing toward you. Flip the back layer of fabric over. Center it on the first and line up the edges. Pin the two pieces of t-shirt fabric together.
Step 5 - Sew a ½-inch seam along the edges leaving a 3-inch gap at the end.
Step 6 - Insert your hand in the opening and grab the opposite side of the t-shirt pillow. Pull the fabric through the opening to turn.
Step 7 - Stuff the pillow the desired firmness.
Step 8 - Turn the opening edges toward the inside of the pillow ½-inch. Pin the opening closed.
Step 9 - Sew the opening closed either with a sewing machine or by hand.
When making a t-shirt pillow using a pillow form, cut the back fabric 6-inches longer than the front. Measure the pillow form and add 2-inches Fold the rectangle in half and cut. Sew a hem along the two cut edges. Place the non-cut block on a flat work surface. Situate the hemmed block so the two hemmed edges overlap one another. Line-up the outside edge of the square and pin together. Sew a 5/8-inch straight seam along the outside edges. Turn the pillow top through the hemmed opening. Stuff the pillow form into the hemmed opening.
